Summary
A lot of people have asked me about the AAD and how to prepare, what's the procedure etc. So, I thought I should write a blog on this.
I started learning android for my startup, I never prepared for the exam specifically. One of my friends told me that he was giving the exam so I also went through the syllabus and gave the exam. The newer Android Developer Certification is only 8 hours long online exam and has Architecture Components in the syllabus. After giving the exam you have to clear the exit interview to successfully pass the exam.
Preparation
Go through the topics given in the syllabus nicely, it will help a lot. I guess Udacity's courses for Android Development (till advanced) should be enough. They will check your basics of Android, the exam will be easy. I completed the exam 3 hours earlier. I would suggest you to first go through the questions nicely and then start the exam. I guess ( I am not sure) you don't have to complete all the questions to clear the exam. So, I'd suggest you to first quickly complete the questions that seem easier to you as it will also boost your confidence while giving the exam.
ID Verification
It takes roughly 1 day to verify your account on TrueAbility (The vendor for the certification exam). So, you should pay the fee and upload all the documents a day prior to the day you have planned to give the exam.
Android Studio Plugin
Make sure you have the latest version of Android Studio Installed before you start the exam.
When you'll start, you'll be asked to install the Android Studio Certification Plugin. You will not be allowed to open any other project in the Android Studio until you submit the exam but you will be able to access the content online!
Exit Interview
The exit interview will be of 5 questions and roughly 10 minutes. You can take the interview whenever you want but within 7 days of completing the exam.
Make sure you have a working mic, camera, and good Internet.
Review Process
It takes around 45 days for the result to be declared but a lot of my friends received it in around 10 days. You'll receive an email saying "Congratulations! You've Passed" followed by another email, containing your certificate and a badge within the next few days.
That's All! <3
Happy Coding!
